Janelle BarclayJanelle Barclay

Janelle Barclay started her dance career at age 2 and a half. By her pre-teen years, she began competing in jazz, tap, ballet, and ballroom. She attended both the Performing Arts Department of Benjamin Cardozo High School and Alvin Ailey American Dance Center where she further expanded her skills by studying modern and African dance.Upon high school graduation, Janelle received the highest award given for excellence in dance, the Alvin Ailey Award. She continued her education with a scholarship from Long Island University's Dance Department where she studied under world reknowned dancers and choreographers. After completion of  her BFA, she performed with The Clare Byrne and Friends Dance Company and taught at El Puente, a human rights organization. She also performed as a soloist at Joe's Public Theater, Columbia University, New York University with Choreograffitti Dance Ensemble and the Blackout Organization.   Giving joy to others through dance gives Janelle much pleasure and satisfaction.She has passed that on to her former students who have since gone onto Ballet Hispanico, Alvin Ailey Dance, Hofstra and Adelphi University's dance departments,Talented and Unlimited High School, High School of Professions and Performing Arts and St. John's University cheerleaders. Some have followed in her footsteps and are now dance teachers. She is returning to the dance world after taking time off for maternity leave. Janelle is so ready. Are you?!

Samentha Buissereth

Samentha Buissereth acquired her professional dance training from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and the Professional Performing Arts High School. Her credits includes tours with "The Movement“, " Unsigned Hype” and “The G-Unit Christmas Concert”. Videos productions of Marshall Leading Lady Mad Beatz Ent. & Dougs Dancer King & Queen Production, and Crossroads Dancer Apple Productions movie. She currently teaches dance, step, and choreographs for Port Richmond High School and Pink Diamond's Step Team Association. Miss Buissereth is the step coach and choreographer for the Pink Diamonds and Onyx Step Team. In addition, the Delta Sorority- Base Step Team vice president. Along with dance, she is pursuing a cosmetology career.

Anna CarbonellAnna Carbonell, Guest Teacher

Anna is a multi-faceted free spirit who cannot have too much of life.  She immerses herself in different activities from Hawaiian dancing to fancying desserts to playing tennis to teaching yoga and even to working for an investment banking firm and prime brokerage company as the IT Supervisor.  When she was little, she thought that she would grow up to be a comedian or an actress.  She was deviated from her dream and completed a B.A. in Psychology at Queens College . After college, she pursued her dream in the entertainment industry and went as far as landing national commercials such as Dove Body Wash, AT&T and the Travel Channel. Anna has also appeared in day-time soap operas, independent films, and performed in musicals regionally. She has been seen in Cosmopolitan, All You  Magazines, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Nokia, Toys R Us and Babies R Us ads. Then, her path turned to yoga and after several years of devoted practice, she decided to acquire her teacher certification last year.  Anna wants to share her deep love for yoga to everyone so the best way for her is to commence teaching.  With deep gratitude, she thanks Dance Central New York, Inc. for giving her the opportunity to share her devotion to yoga. Bieje Chapman

Bieje Chapman began training at the Louisville Ballet School at 6, The South East Players theatre at 7 and the Youth Performing Arts School at 13 as a dance and drama major in Louisville, Ky. She has been dancing and choreographing for over 15 years and teaching for 10. Scholarships and schools attended are the Briansky Saratoga Ballet, Colorado Ballet School, & Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory Performance credits: Kentucky Derby festival,Woodbury Ballet Company, Albano Ballet Company, Colorado Shakespeare Company, Ogunquit Playhouse and South East Players to name a few. As a nationally certified instructor with the NADTA & an instructor of the NDCA ballroom and Latin syllabus as well as a student of the Vagonova balletic syllabus she has taught for Paul Pellicoros Dance Sport & public school systems across the country. Bieje is currently dance director of the Narrows Community Theatre DANCERS, instructor at Dance Central NY, a private ballroom instructor in Manhattan and is a non-equity actress/soprano/dancer.

Ankit Christie

Ankit Christie completed an intensive course in yogic studies from Gujarat Vidyapeeth which was founded by Mahatma Gandhi. He was certified from Kaivalyadhama in India which was established in 1924. It is one of the only yoga institutions that is recognized by the Ministry of Health in India as a legitimate college of yoga. Ankit has over twelve years of diverse experience with yoga and meditation. He teaches classical and traditional yoga and offers physiological explanations for various yogic practices. He also teaches yoga at college.

Maureen Di Gennaro

Maureen Di Gennaro has an extensive performing and teaching career here in New York City. Her Broadway, regional  and international credits include the original cast of  "42nd Street", “La Caug Aux Folles“, “Singin' in the Rain“ and “Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular” as a Rockette.Her numerous television appearances include , "the Bob Hope Special, Miss Universe Pagaent and the 1980 Tony Awards." She has also had the pleasure of working with Gene Kelly while a Tibor Rudas Acrobat. Maureen has taught all levels of ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics and was a former dance school owner in Staten Island. She often judges for Star Power Dance and Dance Masters of America competitions.

Mariana Espinosa

Mariana Espinosa is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BA in Communications and a minor in Spanish. Since age three, Mariana has trained in various dance styles including salsa, rumba, mambo, bolero, cha cha, merengue, east coast swing,  waltz, American Tango, foxtrot, hustle, hip hop, ballet and jazz. While attending ASU,she was part of SALSASU, a Latin dance competition and exhibition team. Mariana performed at various venues including the Tempe Tardeada. She also competed in the bronze and silver divisions at the Ohio Star Ball and UNLV's Desert Challenge, taking home numerous ribbons and medals. She has taught at Nogales Park and Recreation Center, conducted Salsa workshops at Tempe Accelerated High School and is currently an assistant for Ivan Rivera's mambo/salsa classes and workshops. Mariana hopes to continue training and competing in the future.

Allyson Lynch

Allyson Lynch aka miss al boogie has been practicing various street dance styles for over 23 years. Raised in Albany, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, she moved to NYC in 1998 to study and graduate with her Bachelors in Music Business at NYU. Now a full time dancer, singer and teaching artist, Allyson has performed in theaters, clubs, and videos and teaches all ages across NYC and New Jersey. Her credits include work with the Project Playground Ballers, Ro nt for the Urban Village dance company. Bobbito Garcia has called her “one of the best dancers in NYC.”bin Dunn, Beans, MTV, the film The 25th Hour, and in Shalewa Mackall’s Movement.

Anne Matematico

Anne graduated from the University of the Arts with a BFA in dance. For the past 16 years, she has enjoyed both performing and teaching the art of dance to almost every age range. Anne has performed regionally and nationally in shows such as "the King and I", "42nd Street", numerous industrials, commercials and concerts for Amena cellphone (Spain), Visa, Total Payments, Prudential Insurance, Johnson and Johnson, Bette Midler, Kool and the Gang and Flowers of Polynesia. She has appeared on almost every major television network and performs and teaches regularly in the tri-state area with organizations such as  the Leadership Program and the Educational Alliance. She is also a restauranteur, "Salud! Restaurant and Bar", which is  located in downtown Manhattan. Anne is grateful to be living what she loves with Dance Central New York, Inc.

Eleanor Moore

Eleanor Moore was born in Austin, TX. Her artistic background includes study and performance in dance, music, film, and theater, and visual exhibitions. She has attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, MI, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and the Juilliard School, in New York City. Her professional experience has included The New Roots Dance Ensemble, The Catalyst Club, and most recently Misnomer Dance Theatre. She has performed at Lincoln Center, the Cowell Theatre in San Francisco, and at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC just to name a few. Ms. Moore has been teaching dance for about three years. She has served as a teaching assistant at Ballet Tech's Lower School, a demonstrator/counselor at the Juilliard School Summer Intensive, worked with students in Buckingham, PA at the Encorps Theatre School, and also teaches at the Bronx House, a nonprofit performing arts program. The bulk of Ms. Moore's training lies in classical ballet. She has studied and performed with the Houston Ballet, North Carolina School for the Arts, and Lines Ballet School, where she appeared in an ad for their Summer Intensive. She has studied rhythm tap and notation under Acia Gray, as well as jazz, hip-hop, flamenco, and various modern dance techniques. Ms. Moore's choreography has been performed at the Juilliard School, Alice Tully Hall, and Williamsburg Art Nexus here in New York. Her work has also been shown at the ADF Festival, Interlochen Arts Academy, and The Black Box Theatre in Austin, TX. Her passion for teaching is heavily fueled by the curiosity of young people. It seems that not so long ago, she was in their place, constantly discovering the pleasures of movement.

Ivan "The Iceman" Rivera

Since 1983, Ivan "D Iceman" has been dancing in both the English and Spanish dance world, traveling the globe teaching, performing and choreographing for all walk's of life including concerts, competitions, movies, tv, on and off broadway shows and educational institutions.  He has trained with various teachers such as Addie and Angel Rodriguez, Sonny Allen, Merdian Soto, Maurice Cunningham, Alvin Ailey and Miguel Marrero.  He helped start Razz M' Tazz Dance Co. along with his sister and brother in law. In 2000, he started his extension, Matrix Mambo Madness Dance Company and  Party Productions, along with Dee Jaying, catering, chocolate ganache making and candle making.In the mid- 90's, Ivan had the distinct honor of working for the Fania All-Stars along with Chino Rodriguez and both co- founders Johnny Pacheco and Jerry Massuci, as a dancer, booking agent and choreographer working with the greats from Tito Rodriguez, Jr. to Tito Puente.He learned the dance influences of Son Montuno, Rumba, Danzon to Mambo, which is now called Salsa.  That knowledge of history and music adaptation is how he broke down the Clave Theory, Music Timing and Sounds of all Latin music. Ivan currently teaches abroad as well as in Dance Central New York, Inc. where he is always having a blast . Remember,... "Music is what you dance and Salsa is what you eat." Confused? Well, come and join our family and Ivan will break it down for you. Oh! And one more thing! Style and profile is what makes you a Mambolero/a a.k.a. Salsero/a.

Mark Anthony Smith

Mark Anthony began stepping at the age of twelve after watching a step team perform at a local talent show. He’s been stepping ever since! He attended and graduated from Tottenville High School where he was the captain of the “Hott Steppaz” for two years. Mark has stepped with the award winning Nubian Student Union at Wagner College and has been part of numerous talent shows. He currently attends the Art Institute of New York City with aspirations of becoming a world-renowned chef. Mark is excited to be joining the staff of Dance Central New York, Inc. and can not wait to start making his mark in the world of dance.

Nelini Stamp

Nelini Stamp has been dancing for 17 years. She started at Janet’s Dance Studio in Brooklyn, New York where she trained in jazz, tap, and ballet. She earned a certificate of Merit from the Royal Academy Of Dance when she was in 4th grade. With Janet’s Dance Studio, she attended the Dance Educator’s of America workshops in 1998. As a member of Staten Island Children’s Theatre, she performed as a dancer in a number of musicals such as; The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls and Oliver. She attended high school at Fiorello H LaGuardia High School for Music and Art and the Performing Arts where she majored and trained in voice. Her personal goals in life are to graduate college with an International Business degree and start her own business. Although she still has dreams of becoming a Broadway performer, her practical dream job is becoming a wedding planner. She is delighted to be teaching her first love and is excited to get the party started.

Gina Valerio

Gina is a graduate of The College of Staten Island with a B.S. in Education. She has danced with several dance schools including: Mrs. Rosemary's, Dance Expo USA, Moore Catholic High School Performing Arts, and Starmaker Dance Studio. She has been teaching and choreographing dances for the past seven years and has competed in many competitions and performed at several benefits throughout Staten Island. She also choreographed several plays and shows at St. John’s University, Moore Catholic High School and Holy Child Church. Gina is very excited about the upcoming dance season and is living her dream with Dance Central NY, Inc.

Teresa Valerio

Teresa is currently in her first year at The College of Staten Island studying education. She attended Moore Catholic High School and was a student of the Performing Arts, with a concentration in dance. Teresa had the honor of performing in Walt Disney Land in California with the Moore Players in 2005 and was in several shows and dance concerts while attending Moore Catholic. Teresa has been dancing for 16 years, studying at Mrs. Rosemary’s, Dance Expo USA and Starmaker Dance Studio. She is excited about her new teaching venture at Dance Central New York, Inc and can not wait to apply her knowledge to her future students. Teresa is also Gina’s younger sister and loves the idea of a family business atmosphere.
